World Cup Found Poetry: “Light”

Going to attempt found poetry for each World Cup game I watch in full. Piecing together phrases from the announcers’ commentary. The less to do with football/soccer, the better.

It’s just sort of a half-light in patches.
We promised you a few thousand stories
with the contempt that they clearly deserved.
Ten days every summer in a monastery
was an extremely charitable
little firefly
(a bit of a protected species)
Hardly ever see the light of day again.
Hanging on by their nails,
feet nailed to the floor.
